Things you actually still like about the job?

We never have an easy Monday or Tuesday as we always have 3 days mail in the frame. We all have 2000 plus points of delivery and very hilly. Everyone at mine is broken and would never go 30 seconds over let alone 30 minutes.

Those autumn days when it’s slightly cold but not cold enough for the storm proof coat yet. The quiet Monday/Tuesdays when you breath a sigh of relief knowing there will be no awkward hand back conversation with a manager as you will only run 30 mins over to as appose to two hours the remainder of the week. The feeling of leaving the office the day before your rest day.
Everything else is shite.

Quiet Mondays and Tuesdays? Gosh i miss those days. Everyday now for me is a total nightmare, because there is always a build up/backlog of mail in my frame. The ridiculous revision earlier this year pretty much added an extra 50% to my walk . . . a walk which I regularly cut off on before!!!

Being in the open air and looking at nature - wonderful cloud formations, trees, plants. Parakeets! The amazing gardens some people have.
Householder friendly smiles and banter
some decent conversations with colleagues
the physical exercise - I'm a few years from retirement but I relish the challenge - the only downer is minor injuries that sometimes crop up
I'm thankful for having an excellent management team - understanding, decent people - I do understand other's don't have it so lucky - I worked in another d.o and it wasn't good at all.
Cats! Some dogs too - used to throw a ball for one.
Wildlife - saw a baby fox at 10am. Parakeets, magpies, squirrels .
Life is what we make it. Mental attitude is everything. People say you are what you eat - which is true. But even more so, our reality is conditioned by our thought patterns. First a thought, then an emotion.

Today ( and it hasn’t been like this for a long time) I knew I could complete and had a spring in my step. It reminded me of the old days when you knew you had time to complete and have a break and were motivated to do the best.

No one dislikes the job, they dislike pressure/ bullying put on them to complete unachievable workloads and thoughtless management on the way it’s run.

The day goes in fast as you are doing the opposite of clock watching
Enjoy walking when the weather is nice
I enjoy getting the exercise
Get on well with my partner
Deliver in a pretty nice area with nice people for the most part
Can listen to music/podcasts/radio/audiobooks
Dont think about work once im home
No boss watching over me all day ( though PDAs are soon becoming a pocket boss )
No sense of working in a busy claustrophobic environment like a supermarket etc
Done the same round for years so its like second nature, dont really need to switch on
Feel like part of the community
