Why would this be planned? What self-respecting organisation would have planned maintenance happen during a weekday business day on such a scale? Anyone will know that planned maintenance generally only happens overnight or over a weekend (online banking, etc). This stinks of a cover up, possibly panicking a cyber attack has compromised data, so everything's been shut down to minimise the damage?
It stinks worse than my storm jacket. Even if, for some reason, you did this during working hours - you wouldn't pull all of it at the same time. You'd have a plan to mitigate the outage... if it were under control.
The machine stops.

Just remember who you work for and the standard of management when you ask state things like plans and mitigation , no self respecting I. T. geek would work for this firm when you are working with a ZX81 soon to be upgraded to a ZX Spectrum
