RM managers are a weird bunch of cretins.....
It was ever thus.
Only one mantra.."but we've always done it this way".
The original example of "training" by the principle of "monkey see, monkey do"
"Posties without bikes" as they were known years ago.

Re: Royal Mail managers are a weird bunch of cretins
Being a good manager at Royal Mail requres daily attention to a bunch of mind-numbing details that actually require attention. Anyone smart enough and hard-working enough to do that can usually get a more interesting job somewhere else.
The best ones I've seen - and they do exist - are capable people who've come to RM to spend their last decade before retirement. Or have the ability to go skillfully on autopilot for seven hours and then happily go home.

Re: Royal Mail managers are a weird bunch of cretins
While the terms "weird" and "cretin" have different connotations, it is possible for someone to exhibit both characteristics simultaneously, though they describe different aspects of a person's behavior or attributes.
"Weird" typically refers to behavior or traits that deviate from what is considered normal or conventional. It can encompass a wide range of unusual or unconventional behaviors, interests, or quirks. Someone who is considered weird may have unconventional hobbies, peculiar habits, or an eccentric personality.
On the other hand, "cretin" is a derogatory term that generally refers to someone who is regarded as stupid, foolish, or lacking intelligence. It is a more negative and offensive term that implies a certain level of intellectual deficiency or incompetence.
So, while someone can be simultaneously perceived as exhibiting weird behaviors or possessing eccentricities and also be considered intellectually deficient or lacking intelligence, it is important to approach these terms with sensitivity and avoid using derogatory language to describe others.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

There were some managers where I worked who were unable to do the paperwork, just the bullying. They would get an opg to do the figures and paperwork for them.

The line managers are bad enough, the area ones are even worse, as for the directors, we best not go there really. There is something that I can’t seem to quite understand and that is, why are the ones who are graduates the absolute worst managers of people in the entire rotten organisation , with zero communication skills , zero understanding of what makes people tick and just a lack of any common sense at all.
