From full time to part time

Part-timers in my office come in early, and finish as late as me.

As with anything to do with Royal Mail, it isn't really what it says on the tin.

This job is exhausting. You will get more of a 'lie-in' in the morning. That's the best part of it. You will potentially be less knackered.

If you need to earn extra money you can do overtime - the only downfall to this is that it will be outdoors overtime doing a physical delivery whereas if you are a Full Timer then the extra hour or so you would work each morning is just doing some sorting.

The odd Sunday parcel delivery at the higher rate of pay can make up for the loss in hours with going down to PT.

If you don't need the money then going PT is nice....only having to work a 6 hour day - wonderful!

Interesting reading. Was thinking of going p/t in the next couple of years, but only if its on my terms and that would either have to be finishing earlier or reducing days worked.

Forget it otherwise. An experienced postie always wakes up early. It's ingrained in the body clock dna, so hanging around early doors and finishing at the same time as a full timer is pointless.

So get up early and do something useful before work that you didn't have time for working full time. You've got to make the time and be strict about it to still get up and do something productive for yourself or like you say you might as well be at work instead of 'hanging around' for 2 hrs waiting to go to work.
