Re: The "How was your day" thread.
Mountains of mail and parcels again. To quote the Dom “the company are working through the backlog” will be the same again on Saturday as well apparently. To quote a couple of customers today “not more f’ing Christmas cards”

Re: The "How was your day" thread.
If you look at the addresses on those Xmas cards we are delivering after Xmas day you will find the majority have at least one address line missing or an incorrect postcode. I have also noticed several instances of parcels that have been delayed by a week or more also having an incorrect postcode such as one digit missing which then sends the parcel to a totally different area. Of course this is also to do with staff in the MCs mainly looking at the postcode but if senders put the correct postcode on the items they would receive their post in a timely fashion.Grumpyoldmailman wrote: ↑30 Dec 2020, 17:41We had people on O/T yesterday evening and early this morning to try and clear the IPS backlog, had a Christmas card for most drops today, some had 4 or 5, hope we have nearly got rid of them as it’s becoming abit embarrassing.

Re: The "How was your day" thread.
We are still at Xmas levels of larger parcels although there are less of the smaller packets. Seems to be a lot of stuff being ordered from online Xmas sales plus Xmas presents still being forwarded to where they need to be. I had four parcels on a consumer collect from one address yesterday going to their relative who couldn't stay over or visit at Xmas.

We still managed to fail about 10 walks.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Probably Xmas casuals. Don't forget that many MCs cover a much wider geographical area than they used to

Or in Marrakesh, Morocco.
I remember quite clearly wanting to take a photo of the beautiful Royal Palace (a.k.a. Dar el-Makhzen) near the Badi Palace. Within seconds some security guards came out of the Palace gate and told me with stern voices in French and English not to take any photos or they'll arrest me.
That's what Royal Mail's delivery offices need. No-nonsense security guards willing to rough up prats like that YouTuber.

lol the managers and police end up giving the saddo the attention he desperately craves, if they just ignored him he`d get bored real quick. Legally he is in the right, not sure what the managers are starting beef with him is for.PostmanBitesDog wrote: ↑04 Jan 2021, 17:40Okay, now the cops have shown up. :cool :dance

One thing I learned from my sad past of guarding some military compounds and then working in private security is that if you have solid legal grounds to move them on, you just move them on. If not, you ignore them - otherwise, you just make an a..e of yourself and entertain their silly agenda.
As soon as you start arguing with them you already lost. Especially nowadays when everything is recorded.

Absolute shambles at ours at the moment. 4 people each with 20+ Years in have called it a day since Xmas. 2 new starters gone as well leaving 1 of the 8 recruited less than 12 months ago remaining. Others near retirement age also considering there options now they have seen their mates go. Managements solution, summer lapsing and a couple of agency guys who apparently only get 4 hours a day. If they get 2 bags done it’s a result as only the mech is chucked in for them. Think I might have to consider my own options as it’s going south fast.

I'm sure one of my colleagues called me a "clever cat" today and I found it harassing, so I think I'm entitled to a few hundred thousand pounds compensation.

The world has gone mad - so a colleague who takes IHR after 20 years of wrecking his joints say gets about 20-22k, less than tenth of this amount? Can we assume if a white person had gone into the 'Muslim meeting room' or whatever, and was asked to go to the Christian one because on account of his colour they assumed he was one, he would've had the same outcome in an employment case? B*ll*cks would he. Sounds to me like he was one of these people itching to take offence at anything, knowing he could resort to this kind of action for personal gain. Injury to feelings, my a*se.
A 'sly old dog' is an old and traditional British expression, and can now be 'construed as being insulting' to some cultures? Cultures whose sensitivities now override those of the host nation these people strive so hard to enter and get employed in.
The real insult here is to every stressed, bullied, overworked and tired postie still working for RM.

I’m actually thinking of a different career too. Been a shambles since I started in August. Waiting for vans, then the vans are s**t and broken (always have engine lights on). Overtime not being paid even tho Iv asked multiple times. Royal Mail are so behind other couriers, they need to modernise ASAP. Iv had enough of the job tbh.
Manager called me in once as there was a van for me, got there, no van. His solution.. take ur own car? No way! What a joke and an embarrassment of management.
