Already had the talk to managers about Xmas pressure and been told if need be only tracked and parcels will be going out , they don't care if cards/mail fail this year. Our managers will send mail back to the mail centres once we are gridlocked, they've done it beforeSpacePhoenix wrote:Oh yes it can. I've heard mentions that it's expected to possibly be the busiest year ever for Xmas cards. With lockdowns, covid etc it wouldn't surprise me if some DOs locally end up with between 4,500 and 5,000 of Tracked each, without the LAT items on top (which I reckon will go through the roof in December). I wouldn't be surprised to see some DOs getting 400-500 SDs everyday nearer XmasRen Hoëk wrote:Mate, it cant get any busier.

2 extra lorry loads of parcels this morning as they couldn’t fit them into the daily duty runs from the mail centre, they couldn’t get them in either till till the regular lorry’s had pulled off the bays so that compounded the problem and delayed everyone getting out for about 30-45 minutes, cut offs galore and the docket kings will be out till 8 or 9 I would guess. Funniest thing of the day was the pair of newbies who are the only ones who have agreed to van share had 6 and a half York’s between them and obviously couldn’t fit them all in

Right then,
A fairly straightforward day today. Busy, but not too manic.
However, tomorrow looks set to be bonkers.
Loads of yorks arrived late in the afternoon full of mail ready for sorting and delivering tomorrow. And more will show up in the early hours, too. Loads of yorks. Loads.
But on a positive note, Ireland will beat England 5 - 1.

You might have in previous years but this year chances are the MC will then send it straight back to you as we won't have the room. DO staff keep forgetting that whilst the only mail they handle at Xmas is for the area they cover, MCs handle mail covering multiple DOs and during xmas pressure are also handling mail going out to other MCs. We've very little room now and that's before the outward starts getting processed during Xmas pressure. With social distancing there's even less roomcitypostie wrote: Our managers will send mail back to the mail centres once we are gridlocked, they've done it before

One things for definite, our office won't be taking the yorks of divert mail we normally do for the MC every year on overtime. All the overtime will be delivering our parcels this year not doing mc workSpacePhoenix wrote:You might have in previous years but this year chances are the MC will then send it straight back to you as we won't have the room. I think the point they were trying to make was that if you are worried about how we are going to cope (As a posty) with the extra traffic then remember that it's not our problem. It's the managers. Clock on, Clock off.rambo1 wrote:I think he was looking for a solution. How will your answer help with that lol.Postie45 wrote:Munchboii wrote: Otherwise how will we cope ??

You have said this before but Id love to know where they intend to leave it at our DO? On the roof? On the street? RM will need to find storage capacity somewhere because it's not going to be in DO's.SpacePhoenix wrote:You might have in previous years but this year chances are the MC will then send it straight back to you as we won't have the room. Under a tarpaulin or mini marquee/tent in your yard. You can dream on if you think MCs will have the storage room.Ren Hoëk wrote:You have said this before but Id love to know where they intend to leave it at our DO? On the roof? On the street? One way that a little more room could be made, where any DOs have splits (say 1-2, 3-4, 5-6 and 7-8) we could just axe that and send it all together. That's just about the only chance you've got

Im not saying they will be storing it in MC's but they certainly aren't going to be able to store it in DO's. Il repeat. They will have to find storage capacity else where.SpacePhoenix wrote:Under a tarpaulin or mini marquee/tent in your yard. Dream on. There's nowhere around here that would be secure enough to store work. You'd probably be looking at an hours round trip to somewhere that is secure enough so you can probably expect your work to arrive an hour later. That's assuming that we have the spare lorries and drivers, lorries we might just have enough but drivers, no chanceRen Hoëk wrote:Im not saying they will be storing it in MC's but they certainly aren't going to be able to store it in DO's.
