We all know the first class mail will stay in the frames with the 2nd class to make way for tracked packets getting delivered.

If you can’t see that it’s all the more tiring prepping in trays of mail from previous days, having to stand there longer then fine. Pushing heavier mail with packets in a trolly still makes it more tiring.
How much first class mail are you getting exactly?
It would be 2, sometimes 3 days worth of mostly 2nd class which as you know makes up the bulk of what we deliver letter wise. Thats what he means no?
So only first class is being prepped into the frame on the day 2nd class is being held back? Again, this sounds like a win as prepping 2-3 days of mail means less time walking the streets. Given the volume of mail we receive, and given parcels will be going anyway, I’m struggling to understand how suddenly we will be lugging around these huge pouches of mail.

The probable increase will come by the fact that the mail will always be 2/3 days. The D2Ds will need doing over those 2/3 days as well as all the tracked and other packets for the 2 walks being completed fully that day.

Day 1

Two posties will do 2 frames ( A and B ) of 1st class/2nd class/packets/tracked/specials/collections

Another postie will do the 1st class/tracked/specials/collections from 2 frames that are paired with the above ( C and D )

Day 2

Two posties will rotate to do frames C and D 1st class/2nd class/packets/tracked/specials and collections - the 2nd class packets and mail which never went out on day 1 ( or never sent by mail centre )

The other postie will do the 1st clas/tracked/specials/collections from A and B

Then it will rotate again

So you will always be doing at a minimum 2 days worth of mail given that 2nd class makes up the overwhelming bulk of what we deliver

Also whatever two frames are going out on Friday with all products wont be going out again until Tuesday so that day will be three days worth ( Saturdays that didnt get delivered due to it being a tracked and first class only day, Mondays that didnt get delivered because the walks were rotated to the ones that didnt go out Friday and Tuesdays items due for delivery )
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Or do the A & B posties prep the 2c frames every day so only have one day's mail to prep, leaving the other postie to prep the 1c frame every day?

Unless they rent additional storage you do have to wonder where they'll store all the DO's 2c and also how 2, or even 3 days, mail is delivered to us, when the trucks are usually full now when they arrive.

Imagine coming into work on a Tuesday in future on a 2c frame, you'll have to sort Saturday's, Monday's and Tuesday's mail the latter including Radio Times etc, and if the previous week's postie pulled a sickie on the Friday you'll also have Thursday's and Friday's post to prep, plus all the 2c packets, along with Tuesday's 1C mail, 1c & 2c packets & all the Tracked etc. By the time you've prepped it all and tied up it'll be time to start throwing it all back in the frame for the next day!!

For the mech it'll be down to what is released by the DTS. Once we get to the autumn I think the 2C will quickly build up until there’s too much to run. We're not allowed to hold it if it isn't DTS so it'll likely be sent to DOs as manual.

The DTS system goes by the number of calendar days after the mail first gets run by a CSS. Say Monday night a load hits the 5 day limit but none is due for delivery on the Tuesday, as it stands it'll be released and sequenced, before being sent out to the DO
