There were ample good reasons why delivery spans were 2.5 hrs, back in the day.
They still hold today. Always will. Because we're only human, always will be.

I thought mail was supposed to drop off over the summer? I'm still claiming daily! We've had approx 12 new starts in our office since April, the longest any of them has lasted is 4 weeks, says it all about the state of our place.

The thing is the products or items we deliver nowadays take longer to do so. Years ago we had much more bulk of letters and flats but you didn't have to scan it all or go to neighbours etc. So the job takes just as long if not longer to complete.scoobymunster wrote:I thought mail was supposed to drop off over the summer? In terms of packets and parcels Friday & Saturday were really busy almost like Xmas. Went over by an hour on Friday and over by two hours on Saturday minus what we are getting paid for doing the additional absorption.

About to post a letter & noticed the door was open slightly, so I shut it to make posting easier, I did not see the old fellow kneeling down in the front garden, I had locked him out, said his wife would be back around 5

Probably the most boring day in the Tour de France ever.
Worse than a team time trial.
I could have taken a RM bike and stayed in the peloton.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

We thought they were being very good to us by saying due to the hot weather, to lighten the load that we could leave our lapsing Thursday.
What they didn't tell us is that it would all still be there for us on Friday.
So, double the load today.
Cheers.

I remember the days when I was able to fit my entire duty in the one york.
The papers claim we've a lot of poverty in my area, the volume of packets says different!
