Well my day (Sat) was flipping hot. Walked in to work and total cloud cover and cool breeze :-). However cloud burned off by 7.30am and nothing but scorching sun for the rest of the day. Got finished at 1pm but 4 hours walking in total sunshine takes it out of you for sure. Praying for some cloud next week.
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

They kept us on the IPS for an extra 15mins today so we were all out late, then go through all the "Walk in the shade" crap etc....like they really care ;liar

I work a floating job so I do the same five walks over a six-week period (with the sixth off ofc). This week is probably my toughest of the five, give or take, and suddenly the mail has picked up today w/ piles of junk catalogues (some of which would only need 4-5 to make a decent sized bundle!). Not to mention that since I did it last they've doubled our absorption & annoyingly it is well out the way of the area in which the rest of the loops are based.

All of that and the weather today = I left the office one minute over my time

I effectively did one hour twenty minutes of work unpaid on my walk today. Past couple of weeks it had become unusually quiet and I was thinking it might be connected to the GDPR. If today is anything to go by the mail volumes have suddenly recovered. So much work must be done unpaid within RM but if you believed all they say you would think we were going home early every day.

Straightforward day, all in all. However...

Our DOM's new cost-saving measure came into force this morning. Usually I come in at 8, prep the whole walk etc & go (o/t paid 8-9.30). That wasn't the case today however, we're now being asked to start half an hour later because the 'mail volumes' are low enough to justify slicing a third off the prep time. I don't even need to tell you what impact that had on our absorption/lapsing :d'oh!

Apparently it’s nationwide come from the big wigs! No lapse done, manager was crying and booked half hour docket! We were told mail will be down 40% by the end of summer!

I very much doubt there will be a 40% drop in mail volumes. We had two or three quiet weeks and I was starting to feel paranoid that the GDPR had wrecked the business. But the volumes have picked up again and it is isn't much if any quieter than a usual day. For example today if I hadn't come in twenty minutes early and had taken my 40 minute break I would have been extended on duty time by an hour. I realise we are shooting ourselves in the face but it's just too much grief to attempt to book overtime except if it's something like working a day off. I may be daft but I'm not completely stupid!
So business as usual - just keep avoiding the RM lies.

2 people on a walk we’d never done before. Has had some bits added and some taken away, board is in the wrong order. Managers didn’t know how it should be. It’s been s**t

I'm sure they'll peddle this in our RMTV/WTL tomorrow as well...

To top it off today I initially thought, for the first time since I can damn well remember, I had no D2Ds to take out. Then suddenly they appeared at the fitting after I got back off the round :thumbdown Does that mean I can leave a loop for next week? ;-P

PS- thinking about it, it wouldn't be so bad if we still came in half an hour early on Wed/Thurs at least

Possibly a result of Network 18, possibly the lorry that brings them to your local MC comes later and possibly now misses the early run(s) to your DO

Upon further inspection I'm not that fussed, we only have D2D for one half of the shared-van walk :thumbup
