We have DPR drivers at our office, so of course that adds another level of difficulty in finding work for everyone during the trial.
There is no difficulty at all in “finding work” for those who cover DPRs. A lot of those staff who regularly do DPRs are now multiskilled and can cover walks, afternoon collections, mail centre runs, CSP, RLE, K&T, etc, etc. They are used to being pulled from pillar to post on a daily basis.

The problem in “finding work” will invariably be among the legacy staff, some of whom at our place have very publicly stated they will not be moved from their existing duties nor will they switch between routes as required by the method change.
You misunderstood and can’t see the wood for the trees. The DPR are going to be dropped because that section won’t be required.

The senior staff that you are constantly maligning, have been there done that, they’ve seen numerous changes come and go. Think about that.
No, the DPRs are being expanded and rolled out across the board, just under a different name. This whole thread is about that expansion and rolling out. Think about that.

Just so it's clear in my head.

We have to drive slower because of Trimble.
They want one postie to cover 2 jobs ( 1 with 2 days mail) in the time it takes to normally do one job, but also drive slower?

That about right?

None so blind as those who won’t see and all that.
Believe as you wish. You might want to join the union so that there is someone to argue for your job.

Why do you have to drive slower?
You have always had to drive within the speed limit no?

I thought it was;

3 posties cover 4 walks

2 of them will do all products on walk A and B whilst postie 3 does the tracked and 1st class from walk C and D

then the next day 2 of them will do all products on walk C and D whilst postie 3 does the tracked and 1st class from walk A and B
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

I don’t know where you are getting the extra postie from? On a paired walk, two posties will continue to work their two walks. That is how the pilot has to run.

Youve misread it

3 posties will be in charge of 4 walks - A, B, C and D

On pairings, 2 will work together in a van to do all products on duties A and B whilst the third postie in another van does only the tracked and 1st class mail on C and D

then they swap over each day Monday to Friday - pairing will do C and D all products whilst third postie does the trackes and 1str class on A and B
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

This, I believe, is correct and will be where job losses will be created, VR, people leaving coz they are pi55ed off etc.

Oh right sorry - you have been referring to the diagram on page 3 or 4 on this thread? That must be a variation because the diagram we have for our office doesn’t look like that. There isn’t a third postie.

You might want to share that with us

Where are the savings coming from if its still 2 posties to 2 walks?

I dont even know how it could be that if full walks arent supposed to go out on certain days - youd need to be in charge of more than 1 walk if thats whats happening.

And that IS whats happening.

Don't forget that the postpeople doing the tracked on 2 walks will also be doing the first class including parcels, specials, customer collections and boxes. And unless the 1st class comes in separate it'll need finding, redirections will need doing on it and then it can be put with the tracked.

Also the mail will either need throwing in daily or you'll have the 2 doing mail having to put in 2/3 days of mail before they can go out and deliver 2 usually already oversized walks.

That was my understanding.

I assumed HCT duties would operate in the same way. A single person alternating between 2 HCT duties. So 2 people would cover 4 HCT duties with a 3rd person doing tracked and first class on the 2 duties not going out that day. 3 people covering 4 duties, the same savings as van share duties.

I get the impression Barnacles office has been chosen deliberately as it WONT work - something that was referred to on the CWU video a few weeks ago.
